A woman who has spent £20,000 dressing up like a doll says it helps her deal with the chronic pain of fibromyalgia.
Jade Smith appeared on today’s This Morning to tell Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford about her expensive habit.
The 21-year-old says she’s spent £8,000 on shoes alone after collecting more than 40 pairs.
She also buys and designs her own special doll dresses and wigs in order to achieve her unique look that can take her between four and six hours to get into.

But she says dressing the way she does helps her deal with the chronic pain she suffers every day because of fibromyalgia.
Jade was diagnosed with the condition, that causes pain all over the body, at the age of five.
She’s been coping better with the condition since the age of 11, when she began dressing like a doll after discovering the trend at an anime cosplay convention.
She told the hosts: “I’m doing it pretty much every day when I’m not working or I’ve got a spare minute or I’m going out to see friends.
“It makes me feel happy and helps distract me when I’m in pain.”
Some of Jade’s dresses are specially made and some are imported from Japan and Korea.

Eamonn told her she “comes alive” when she talks about it.
She said: “It’s a really good relief because there’s no cure and most pain medications don’t work for it.
“My only hope is that they find a cure eventually.”
Jade also collects dolls and has spent around £20,000 on her obsession, including £8,000 on shoes alone.
She said: “I do collect Barbies and I love the vintage ones because they go with my look of paler skin and blonde hair and blue eyes.”
Jade, who lives with her parents, said her family is accepting of her dressing up as a doll, but just wish she’d cut down on her collection and get a smaller wardrobe.
She also said she gets a mainly positive reaction when she’s out and about in her unique outfits.
She said: “People take photos with me and say nice comments but some shout nasty comments at me but I’ve got used to that.”
Jade said it can take between four and six hours for her to get ready as a doll because of her condition.
She left This Morning viewers divided.

One said: “She’s scaring me a bit bless her”
“I have Fibromyalgia should I dress as a doll too?” one asked.
Another said: “This girl has issues”
While one commented: “I think that poor girl needs more than just treatment to deal with her physical condition to be honest as dressing like a doll isn’t the answer”
But others applauded her for finding a way to cope with her condition.
One said: “If she’s happy then that’s all that matters”
And another said: “My mum has fibromyalgia. She struggles on a daily basis. So pleased that Jade has found a way to help her cope with hers.”
“The judgement from some of the people in tweets is quite saddening,” said another.
